The Results are In!!!

Adam did not win American Idol...Wahoo!

Ok thats not the results I was thinking of... I apparently do NOT have Lupus.
Which means... I was kicked out of the Air Force unneccessarily.
After 18 years of being told there was nothing that can be done about my face...
After 18 years of being told I absolutely need to stay out of the sun...
After 18 years of avoiding most fun summer time activities...
After 18 years of hiding from cameras...

It was all a bunch of B.S!

I was given some medication that "may help" (after already trying countless different kinds),
but that particular medication causes vision problems...with my current vision problems I dont dare try the medication. I am angry. I am frustrated. And I am bitter.

Watch out Doogie Howser...

Hmmm, I have a lot to say on this subject but I will just ask one question, how did they decide you didn't have lupus?

isn't this, in a way, good news though? I'm confused.

So, where do you go from here? Not that it is my business, but this must mean there is another diagnosis?

Melissa... the positive diagnosis came from looking at my face and a biopsy of one of the spots I get from the sun. The negative result came from ANA, C'3 and C'4 blood tests.

Jettie...Lets just hope my mom isnt always right... After all these years of her always being right, shes bound to screw up soon... right?!?

Dana... It is good news, except I cant get those 18 years back, and now Im too old to get into the service. My next stop is Neurology. MS testing. but when that comes back negative... Im just going to see the 12 year old dermatologist and give a clear complexion one. last. chance.

The 12 year old derm made me LOL! I have a few what I call "baby doctors" makes me a bit nervous when they are younger than me.

I hope that you can get things figured out. Do you have joint symptoms or organ issues or is this all skin related? Lupus is no fun and I'll bet you'd be happy to get rid of it if they could just figure out what the heck the skin thing is a fix it.

Praying for you!! (((hugs)))

My mom "had" lupus too. For probably 25 years. Then they said no, it's just arthritis, maybe fibro mialga (spelling?) too. I'm not sure the doc's know much half the time. Hang in there. I hope your symptoms get better.

MOM! Hes not 12 years old!! Hes like 28 or something. For all you who don't know the story.. I had a mole on my nose removed and the '12 year old' dermotolgist was the guy who took it off.

Well, Gut feelings are usually right, and sulli and i have always had those gut feelings concering your lupus, but now i wish they could find out what is wrong with your skin......as for the lost 18 years, they were`nt lost at all, just differant than what you had planned but........that is what life is all about, turns and twists along the road.

As for the MS.......i hope you get a negative on that too, i`ve run out of gut feelings for awhile.......

Dani, i bet he was 12!

This story is so sad and yet on another level some good news. Makes us realize we can't leave everything to the doctors, we need second opinions or more if necessary. What is really sad here is the incorrect diagnosis played a huge role in not being able to take your desired career path in life. On a lighter note at least you won't have all the skin damage the rest of us will have; you might appreciate that as you age- you will look amazing and have this great skin and the rest of us will have those yucky wrinkles etc. I now know why they say to protect our skin!
