Happy Halloween!

Happy halloween to you all! It looks to be a beautiful day. The stars are shining brightly this morning and there is no frost on the bumkins! Its shaping up to be a beautiful night for trick or treating! The girls are coming today! Bailey Boo and Lissie Belle are going to be joining Me and Tylen James at my work for trick or treating! I am so excited I can hardly wait. I got up a little extra early this morning so that I can get a little homework done so that I dont have to worry about it the whole weekend. This is the first of three weekends in a row off! Next weekend rifle hunting begins. What an exciting time of year!

Day Off!

Yeah! I have the day off today from work. So I was planning to go hunting but it rained... So instead I went to buy a couple sets of scrubs. Today at work, they had a semi truck guy come with a load of scrubs. They had it set up like a little store in back of the truck. Kinda neat. There is no where to buy scrubs here except walmart. And we all end up looking the same so its nice to get a little variety once in a while.

I am going to attemp to bake bread again. The last time it did turn out a bit better than the time before, still not exactly right. It is not rising enough or something. So today I will try another recipe and see what happens. Tylen James absolutely loves when I make homemade bread. I still have not make a good loaf. but maybe today is the day...

Went Hunting!

Yes! I did make it out! Not for very long though. But I still had a little time outside, by myself. Nice! I went out shortly after 7. (note to self...go earlier next time) It was light enough to see, but I had gotten side tracked getting good luck kisses from Tylen James. I really should start out earlier next time. I was walking down the road to my spot and there was a big doe, just staring at me. So I stopped and stared back. I was on the road, and she was about 40 yards away. First and foremost, it is illegal to shoot on a public roadway. Secondly...my bow is only sighted in at 20 yards. After the doe ran off, I went into the woods towards my spot and spooked a couple more deer. I didn't get a good look at them, just their tail ends. Finally, I got all settled into my spot and instantly knew I was facing the wrong direction. And the spot wasn't going to be very good. But I thought I would just sit and watch and see what was going to happen. Sure enough, after about 20 minutes into my sitting, right behind me about 30 yards away a doe entered the woods from the road, probably the same one I had seen on my way in. I obviously couldn't turn around and try to get her, that would just scare her off.... So I sat and waited and watched. she did come into my line of fire and I was able to pull the bow back, but she never stopped moving. I am too much of a novice to take a moving shot, so, I didn't. All in all, even though I didn't get to shoot my new bow yet, it was a good morning. I moved my spot around for the next time, so I should see a bit more than I did today. It was an absolutely beautiful day. I did get kicked out of the woods over there. Some friends of the girl who owns the place came to cut fire wood. So, I gave up and just came home until the next time. The kids and I worked on the yard. We put up a spooky cemetery. We are working on making our house the "creepiest house in all the country"

I tried to make homemade bread today. It didn't turn out. Can I just say how frustrating this is for me. I can not make bread. And believe me I have tried dozens of times! I did come close, everyone here loved it, but it wasn't the way it was supposed to be. I am planning to try again tomorrow. (since we did eat it all today)

I cooked something new today. For the first time ever, I cooked wild turkey! Evie came over for dinner tonight. I have been wanting to have wild turkey since the first time I ever saw one. And today was the day. Did I already tell you all about the first time I saw a wild turkey? its a funny story... maybe tomarrow.
Night all!

GONE HUNTIN'!!!

Well, in just about an hour or so...(gotta wait til sunrise is very very close if Im gonna go out there by myself) I will be ready to spend the day in the woods. I am not sure as to what directions the deer will be traveling through that spot anymore. With the addition of the house and well, I am sure there will be a few changes to the patterns of the deer. I am hoping that with the way I have things set up down there, (aka no stand at this point) I will get a good look at what is going on. Weather or not I shoot a deer, I just want to get a better idea of how its going to work. I really like that spot, and plan to go there for the rest of the season(s). (both bow and rifle) I had a photo to put up for you all of my cute get up, but a certain teenager, must have the other half to my camera system... So its just gonna have to wait until this afternoon when I come home again. Maybe then, I will have a better photo for you! keep your fingers crossed... have a great morning!!!

P.S. I almost forgot... I am mostly excited about this hunting expedition because it is a chance for me to reconnect with Nature and get some fresh air, and listen to the wind in the leaves, and feel the sunshine, and peace, and quiet, and maybe Ill come up with another idea for a new essay... (and in the event I *gasp* miss a shot at a deer... Thats my story and I'm stickin to it!)

It is Time...

A couple of years ago, on the day before the rifle season opened I was tossed out of my safe and comfy deer stand because the guy who owned it, decided at the last minute to come up and hunt that property for the last time, as he sold it. I was bummed. Big time, but what could I do? It was his right, he was after all the landowner. So, on opening morning, marky poo and I were in town waiting for L&M to open up so I could buy a new stand, that afternoon we drug it out to the woods... (I am sure ticking off lots of hunters along the way) and hung it up. We didnt have a whole lot of luck that year.

I was also really ticked that the guy sold that land. I had told him if he was interested in selling it, Mark and I were interested in buying it. He said he would keep us in mind. He obviously didnt. So we moved our house in to our property and the front of the house faces a duck pond and that property I so wanted to buy. Then, the lady who bought that property started building her house facing the same duck pond and our property. Oh the language that came out of my mouth! I was so angry. (and a little jealous... there are tons of deer over there.)

That lady has never moved in, she didnt even finish building the house. On tuesday Markypoo saw someone over there so he went down to see what was going on. No one should be there, no one lives there. Anyway, it was the mysterious lady, She has decided not to move in and she is not going to resell the place. She told Markypoo that he and I could go ahead and hunt that property after all! So...

Guess where Ill be on Saturday morning when the sun comes up??? Ill be there, but you wont be able to see me...or hear me... or smell me... Anyone wanna come over for back straps on Saturday evening?
